House Hunters
Last year I flew out to Italy and found this gorgeous little house nestled among the foothills of the Gran Sasso mountain range. I was really lucky because the whole process ran very smoothly though of course, being a foreigner to the country, I was really anxious, especially about the legislation and small print.
Abruzzo is a little know region of Italy – I just tell people it’s south of Tuscany – well it is!- and they look suitably impressed. The locals are refreshingly down to earth and hospitable and are genuinely interested in ‘us foreigners’. I love this area so much now and knowing how worried I was about the pitfalls of buying property abroad am happy to share my experiences and advice with other house-hunters. It can be difficult to find the time to carry out a thorough search for a suitable property. In light of this I now offer a property finding service. If you email me a list of criteria such as beach/mountain/hill location, old/new style, within a village/town/isolated, state of repair/disrepair and of course your budget, I will carry out a personalised search for you and email you details and photos of as many properties fitting your description as possible. Obviously the more information you can provide me with, the more accurate the results will be.
The price of the property you are quoted will include my small 'agents fee' but of course won’t include other costs such a solicitors. I am constantly being approached by the locals trying to sell me another property. They seem to think that because I've bought one house, I've got a stash of cash to buy plenty more. However I can use this information to inform other property hunters. I can also interpret for you on your visits over, recommend local labourers and solicitors that I've used and give you invaluable advice about my own experience of house-buying, all at no extra charge.
